Two Types of Eco-Friendly Pathway Lights

Installation of pathway lighting on residential property is popular in some parts of the United States. Indeed, many options are available for consumers to consider. Among the many options available to consumers are the types of path lights that are ecologically friendly. This brief article presents information about two types of residential walkway lights that tend to be ecologically friendly.

Solar path lights do not use electricity in their design. As a consequence, they tend to be friendly to the natural environment. Solar lights use the sun's energy to provide the illumination. In other words, the solar panel component of the lighting fixture collects the sun's energy during the day to use it at night, after the sun sets. However, in order for these lights to work as designed, the solar panel component must be installed in sunny locations. Otherwise, with the current technology used, these lights will not work well, if at all, if installed in locations that are not sunny.

By comparison, low voltage path lights also tend to be eco-friendly, since they use less electricity than the standard home lighting. With this design, the standard home lighting voltage is reduced, usually via a transformer. Unlike solar walkway lights, low voltage lighting does not need to be installed in sunny locations to function. As a consequence, these lights tend to work in both sunny and not sunny locations.

Indeed, consumers have many choices when shopping for path lights. However, in addition to considering how the lights look, they may also wish to consider if the lights are ecologically friendly.
