The Miracle of Guadalupe - They Mystery of the Image on the Cloak of Juan Diego

In 1531, a native Mexican peasant called Juan Diego claimed to have seen a 'beautiful lady' who made various requests of him including the building of a Church on the spot where she appeared to him. Her requests required the cooperation of the local bishop but Juan Diego had difficulty in gaining access to such an important man. When he reported this to the lady, she said that she would provide him with proof that his requests were from heaven and enable him to reach the bishop.

He was told to look nearby for a rose bush that had bloomed, although it was mid-winter. He looked where he was told and found them. He wrapped the blooms in his cloak. When he finally managed to get access to the bishop, he opened the cloak to show him the sign of the roses, but something much more impressive appeared before their eyes. The cloak in which the roses had been wrapped was impressed with a beautiful image of the lady surrounded by various signs and symbols.

NASA scientists have examined this cloak in great detail. They cannot explain some of its characteristics. It is made of cactus fibres. Cactus fibres normally disintegrate after a maximum of 30 years and usually less but this one has survived fully intact for over 470 years. But this was the LEAST of the mysteries that confronted the NASA scientists.

The signs and symbols on the cloak were initially regarded as mere decoration but it was discovered that they are much more than that, they include coded messages to the native Mexican people who converted to Christianity in tens of thousands within weeks of these events. The cloak is exposed to this day for veneration in Mexico City.
