When was the last time you went out to examine your garage door seal? Chances are, if you are like the many other homeowners around the world, you haven't done it, ever. If this is the case, you may need to ask yourself a few questions about whether or not it may be time to replace your garage door seal.
#1 - Is there new insect life in your garage?
If you have begun to notice more, and more insects and bugs making their way into your garage, chances are, they are making their way in through a faulty seal. When the material begins to deteriorate, it will create gaps which the insects use to find cool, dark places inside your garage.
#2 - Do you have water pools build up during rainy weather?
If you have water that builds up during windy and rainy weather, you also probably need to take the time to change out your door seal. The main purpose of the seal is to keep wind and rain out, and if water has started to collect, your home could be at risk for black mold problems, that are very expensive to fix.
#3 - Does the door seal simply look worn out?
When you look at the seal, does it appear to need to be replaced? It is fairly black and white in terms of needing to be replaced. If the material is eroding, and there are chunks missing, or it has begun cracking, you should take the time to replace it.
