You want to save money that is why you are doing things yourself at home. Of course, most of us want to save money that is why instead of hiring an electrician to do the electrical stuff, we do it ourselves. The more money we save the more things we can buy and enjoy. But this could be a very dangerous task to do things on our own and this could be a dangerous thinking of saving money. It is because while you are saving money for your personal enjoyment you might risk your life by unexpected accidents. These accidents are caused by lack of knowledge of electrical things. These are common mistakes that might make our lives worst.

Ignorance in doing electrical things might end up your saving money affair; worst can be is to end up your life. It is very practical to do things on your own, but it could be very dangerous. It is safe to learn from the experts. But if your friend is a self proclaimed expert it could also be a dangerous thing. The both of you might end up a worst fate. Not only that you are risking the lives of the people at your house. Common mistakes are the main factors of thousands of big accidents.

So, if you still want to save money and do electrical work on your own it's not a problem but there are things that a non professional electrician should not do. These are common mistakes that most of us always do. So, here are the five common mistakes to avoid when doing electrical work yourself:

1. Number one Common mistake: forgetting to turn off the main switch

There are thousands of people who are having electrical shocks while fixing an open wire every year. It doesn't mean that you will not be included in that thousand people because you're a good electrician. Make sure to turn off the main switch before starting to do your. It's better to be sure than to regret!

2. Number two common mistake: Splicing wire and covering them with electrical tape

It's not a safe thing to do to splice wires and cover it with electrical tape. It's very safe to use wiring connections.

3. Number Three common mistake: Rushing to finish the work

In doing electrical job it requires patience because it's not an easy matter. Don't hurry things up. You might end up at the hospital.

4. Number Four common mistake: Buying low quality materials for the job.

Yes, you are saving money, but materials that are poor in quality are not reliable materials to use at work. These are not long lasting materials and this brings you a higher risk for future accidents. If not accidents then this could be damage easily. It adds more work. Instead of saving money, you spent more money by fixing it again. So, to be sure, buy materials that are good in quality.

5. Number Five common Mistake: You do not know what your limitation is

You want to save money that is the main issue here that is why you do things on your own. Well, it's not at all bad. Your intentions are good, but there are certain things that you cannot really do because you lack knowledge and experience. For example, taping different wires can cause fire accidents.
