Plasma television has been modified in several ways to impart additional features in it. Widescreen is a new addition in its types. It is a television having a widescreen of format 16:9. Movies can be displayed well on it because most of them have the same format. This is the reason for which cinema screens are also of this type. It is also known as HDTV. Television broadcasts are not mainly in this format and are displayed as distorted visual display on the screen of this product.

It can also be used for the purpose of work. Most of its models are capable of having computer input and 2, 3 files can be viewed at a time on the screen with ease. It is mostly available in market with flat panel design but some of its models are also available in rare projection type. This product has very little drawbacks and is very widely used by people to set up a home theatre. The only main drawback it has, like all other plasma television models, is the burn-in effect. In this case, an image stays on the screen for a longer period of time. This effect may be for a short period but may be of permanent nature.
